PRC Resolution No. 1244, Series of 2020 allows Philippine professionals to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units through self-directed learning, fostering a flexible approach to lifelong learning.
You can download a copy of the Resolution here.
Self-Directed Learning (SDL) is a learning modality recognized and processed by the PRC.
For CPAs accumulating 120 CPD Units for Board of Accountancy Accreditation, you can use up to 36 CPD Units from SDL.
For professionals renewing their licenses, we recommend checking with your particular PRC Regional Office frontliners. Under the PRC's "Maximum Flexibility" rules, PRC only requires 15 CPD units, and some Regional Offices accept all 15 units in SDL. But since this may depend on the frontliners for each PRC region, it is advisable to check with them first.
Online seminars taken with UpCredential can be used for CPD Credits under the PRC's SDL modality.
TIP: Collate all of your SDL certificates and credits earned in ONE APPLICATION FORM to save on processing fees. This is because the PRC charges a flat rate of P500 per application form, regardless of the number of CPD certificates included in the application.
Here are the procedures for processing your SDL certificates with the PRC:
1. Create your account with the PRC Continuing Professional Development Accreditation System (CPDAS).
2. Upload the following documents into your CPDAS account:
- Accomplished SDL Application Form (from CPDAS website)
- Certificate of Attendance from CPD Provider
- Program of the Activities from CPD Provider
- Narrative Report (Learning Gained by the Participant)
3. Pay the P500 application fee (online via CPDAS or over the counter). Note that the P500 fee can cover all your CPD training as long as they are all listed in one application form.
4. Wait for 15 days processing time by the PRC.
For more information, you can check out the PRC's CPDAS Manual here.
